Born June 5, 1922 in Bloomfield. He was the son of Ruel and Dessie (Townsend) Hansford.
He worked for Williams IGA in Bloomfield before going to Whites Grocery store in Bloomfield in 1971 where he retired as manager in 2002 after 31 years of service. He was a 62 year member of the Bloomfield First Christian Church where he was still active as an Elder. He enjoyed providing ministry to the Greene County jail for over 30 years. He also assisted Guy Glover in starting the Bloomfield Little League. He was a 1940 graduate of Bloomfield High School.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Carolyn Dillman and Casey Keller, both of Bloomfield; one sister, Patty Brinegar and her husband Jack of Indianapolis; one brother, Paul Hansford and his wife Arlene of Stratham, New Hampshire; a son-in-law, Dave Tatom of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Mike Saunders and his wife Julie of Indianapolis, Jason Keller and his fiance'e Pink Bailey of Fishers, Courtney Dillman of Indianapolis, and Andrea Dillman of Bloomington; his great, grandchildren, Peter, Abby, and Annie Saunders all of Indianapolis; and many cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Hansford; two sisters, Maryann Strange and Wilma Ruth Fuller, one Daughter, Jane Ann Saunders, and two nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bloomfield First Christian Church in Bloomfield, with Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler, Rev. Arlen Pope, and Rev. Dave Wilde officiating. Interment will be in Grandview cemetery in Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bloomfield First Christian Church and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Bloomfield First Christian Church.
