Alonzo P. "Lonnie" Funkhouser, 90, of Solsberry, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 at Bloomington Garden Villa.
He was born to Glen C. Funkhouser and Sarah O. (Riggs) Funkhouser on August 16, 1917, in Monroe County.
A veteran of the U.S. Army he served during World War II. He worked at Indiana Gas and Indiana University until his retirement in 1983.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Ilene Abram Funkhouser; sons, Jerry Funkhouser and wife Sharron of Hendricksville, and Randy Funkhouser and wife Rhea of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Jeri K. Funkhouser-Sparks and husband Rick of Hendricksville, Tony Funkhouser and wife Kara of Ellettsville, and Brian Funkhouser and wife Alyson of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Branden Funkhouser, Gavin Funkhouser, Zachary Funkhouser, Zane Funkhouser, Alyssa Funkhouser and Aiden Sparks; sisters, Mildred Johnson, and Betty Hamm and husband Joe all of Bloomington; brothers, Jack Funkhouser and wife Sue, and Don Funkhouser, all of Bloomington, and Robert Funkhouser and wife Catherine of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter, Daphne Deeann Funkhouser.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with Rev. Warren Vandeventer officiating. Burial is to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
