Burl Edward Hudson, 81, Terre Haute passed away at 4:14 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Born June 19, 1926 in Owensburg, he was the son of Roy and Stella (Hatfield) Hudson.
He married Betty Ann (Caudell) Hudson on Dec. 25, 1948.
He served in the U.S. Army duirng World War II under General George Patton as he swept into Germany and assisted with the liberation of the Nordhausen Concentration Camp and he was on the second American tank that entered Berlin. He lived in the Terre Haute community since 1965. He worked as a rate analyist for Conrail retiring in 1980 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Solsberry Masonic Lodge No. 411, the Scottish Rite and Zorah Shrine Club in Terre Haute.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Ann Hudson; three sons, Tony Hudson of Terre Haute, Tim Hudson of Laramie, WY, Trent Hudson of Terre Haute; a sister, Anne Hirth of Owensburg; grandson, Todd Hudson, Canton, GA, granddaughters Traci Rusek and husband Pavel of Woodstock, GA; a great-granddaughter Chloe Susck of Woodstock,GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Tunis Hudson.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jenkins and Son Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Joe Dwyer officiating.
