Charles R. McCoy, 89, of Route. 1, Jasonville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Forest Creek Village in Indianapolis.

He was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Washington, to Orlando and Omadell (McClellan) McCoy.

He was a farmer and member of Lincoln Christian Church. He had formerly served on several agriculture boards, Switz City Central School Board, and several positions at his church. He had an avid interest in Civil War and Indian history and had a large collection of Indian artifacts. He made several presentations of local Indian history to the fourth grades of the elementary schools in Greene County, contributing several of his Indian relics to the schools. He also made a gift of arrowheads to the Worthington-Jefferson Public Library.

He is survived by two children, Doug (Carrol) McCoy, Camby; Carol (Ron) All, Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Beth Andrea (McCoy) Marrs, Indianapolis; David McCoy, Camby; Shannon All, Indianapolis; Ryan All, Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. He was farming partners with Bill & Pam Kirk and their son, Dusty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alta Mary (Ballard) McCoy, Dec. 20, 2005; one sister, Olive Jean Green; two brothers, James P. and Dr. George McCoy.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Clifford Gano officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home,

Memorials may be given to Lincoln Christian Church or Worthington Senior Citizens.
