Born on Aug. 16, 1925 in Bloomfield, he was the son of Iver Wendell and Pearl (Flater) Floyd.
He was a lather in the construction industry for 25 years working on buildings including the Indiana University Library, Musical Arts center, and the Indiana Memorial Union. In 1976, he became an agent for AFLAC and sold cancer insurance until his retirement in 2000.
He married Mary Ann McElroy of Scotland, In. on Dec. 9, 1951 and they would have soon celebrated 56 years of marriage.
He was a member of Bloomfield First Christian Church in Bloomfield.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; two daughters, Nancy Mowery and her husband Doug of Bloomfield and Charlene Mitchell and her husband Scott of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Levi and Aricka Mitchell; and one brother, Kenneth Floyd of Linton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 1p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler and Rev. Dave Wilde officiating. Burial will follow at Flater Cemetery in Bloomfield.
