Mary Edith Akre, 99, of Coronado, CA, formerly of Linton, passed away at 1p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 7, 1908, in Linton, the daughter of Henry Klink & Elizabeth (Schloot) Klink.
After graduating from Indiana University, she was a high school teacher in Linton for four years until she married Robert L. Akre. She was a member of Saron United Church of Christ in Linton and attended the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Coronado.
Survivors include her son, Philip R. Akre, M.D. of Coronado, CA; a granddaughter, Adrienne Louise Akre of Coronado, CA; a grandson, Stefan Schermerhorn of Fairfax, CA; and a great-granddaughter, Marianne Leigh Akre of Coronado, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Akre, in 1976; a granddaughter, Marianne Elizabeth Akre, in 2001, a sister, Mildred Morgan; and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Mike Roth officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of service.
