Born Jan.25, 1928 in Greene County, he was the son of Tom and Mollie (Flake) Groomer.
He worked at Russ Hord's service station for 15 years and drove a school bus for Solsberry, Bloomfield and Eastern for 52 years. He was a carpenter and the Weights & Measures Officer in Greene County. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church in Bloomfield.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 59 years Wanda Groomer of Bloomfield; children Jimmie Groomer and wife Donna, Debbie Jackson and husband Garry "Spec", Suzie Hayse and husband Bruce, Johnie Groomer and wife Robin all of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren LaDonna Vandeventer, Leslie Pope, Shaun Hayse, Brock Groomer, Farrah Groomer, Dustin Hayse, Landon Groomer and Morgan Groomer; four great-grandchildren Paul Vandeventer, Gage Pope, Luke Vandeventer, Greyson Pope; and two brothers Everett and Curtis Groomer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Elmer and Clyde Groomer; and one granddaughter, Hollie Hayse
Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. on Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at Word of Life Fellowship Church, located six miles east of Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m on Saturday at the Word of Life Fellowship Church with Pastor Eugene Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery in Solsberry, Indiana.
Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
