Billy Woody Landis, 78, of Switz City, passed away at 6:51 p.m., Dec. 24, 2007 at his residence.
Born Jan. 2, 1929 in Switz City. He was the son of Will and Epsie (Woody) Landis.
He was employed by Westinghouse/ABB in Bloomington in the supply and shipping department. A U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War, he was a member of the Switz City Full Gospel Church.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Doris (Martindale) Landis, whom he married June 9, 1953; two children, David Owens and his wife Amber of Plainfield, and Marilyn Hill of Bloomfield; six grandchildren, Jamie Owens, Billy Cole, Michael Cole, Jennifer Owens, Brandon Hill, and Jesse Hill; three great-grandchildren, Jourdan Owens, Austin Cole, and Abigail Owens; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Russell Landis, Mason Landis, and Harry Landis; three sisters, Helen Hurt, Beulah Fishers, and Jean Axe; and one infant sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Switz City Full Gospel Church with Rev. Samuel Hill officiating. Interment will be in Switz City Cemetery where military honors will be presented by Bloomfield American Legion Post 196.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Switz City Full Gospel Church.
