Christian means believer in Jesus Christ, His teaching

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

To the Editor:

The Christophobics are at it again, collectively wringing their hands in unison, about some statements made by some presidential candidates, about them being Christian.

Let's go to the dictionary again. Christian: means-believer in Jesus Christ and His teaching.

Believer: means to acknowledge the truth of this teaching and put these principles into action. To say, like the founding fathers said: This is a "Christian Nation" - means it's a Nation built on Christian principles. It does not mean that Christianity is the national religion. Now, let's examine the atheist. An atheist is a person with a profound fear that God does exist.

If you would like to know just what are "Christian principles," just take a quick scan of the New Testament of your Bible, the Red print, if your Bible has it. You will learn exactly what Jesus taught and in no way can this teaching, be construed as offensive to anyone, especially other religions. The doctrine of Jesus Christ is a positive doctrine, that is meant to encourage and gladden the spirit. He said "fear not" many times, and He speaks of joy and of rewards. Nowhere in His teaching does He condemn anyone.

I guess it's the fear of joy, courage, love of self, love of neighbor, freedom from condemnation, that scares these antichrist's into trying, to take Christ out of Christmas. If they really wanted "Joy and Peace" of the season, they should practice His teaching, with as much fervor as they exert in trying to destroy it. They might surprise themselves.

As a matter of fact, if everyone, in the world would live by the principles of "Christianity," there would be real Joy and Peace on Earth.

Thanks for listening.
