On Thursday night, I watched the returns from the Iowa Caucuses. In the past, I never paid this much attention to them. I knew how they worked and yet I learned more details this year. It all seemed a little strange.
While watching the one caucus that was carried live on C-Span, I kept thinking this was not a good way to pick a president. Maybe Iowa shouldn't be first after all. The evening was a nice break -- getting lost in national politics, but my favorite candidate didn't win.
I handled the disappointment very well because I've had lots of practice -- can't remember when the last time was, on the national level, that my favorite candidate won.
So now, for the next few weeks, we're going to hear even more presidential politics on the news channels, non-stop. Since my favorite has been declared not "viable" by Iowans, I'm not quite as interested and will be clicking away. Thank goodness for old movies and the History Channel.
