GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

* Jan. 13 -- No injuries were reported after an accident involving one vehicle and a deer around 1:50 p.m. on State Road 57 north of County Road 100 South. Michael Morton, 55, Elnora, was driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt south on S.R. 57 when a deer entered the roadway from the east side and struck Morton's vehicle on the driver's side door. GCSD Deputy Terry L. Wade was the investigating officer.

* Jan. 14 -- No injuries were reported after an accident involving two vehicles occurred at 9:10 a.m. on State Road 54 at the intersection of County Road 530 East. Edith Arnold, 65, Scotland, was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 truck west on S.R. 54 approaching the intersection when Betty Melton, 81, Solsberry, was driving a 2000 GMC Jimmy SUV south on C.R. 530. Melton had stopped at the intersection, looked prior to pulling onto the highway but did not see Arnold coming, and pulled into her path. Arnold attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid the collision and the two vehicles collided. GCSD Deputy Terry L. Wade was the investigating officer. Others assisting on the scene included Richland Taylor Fire Department and Bays Wrecker Service.

* Jan. 14 -- Jeff A. Sylvester, 33, Bloomfield, was arrested on a preliminary charge of domestic battery and was being held without bond. Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Terry Wade was the arresting officer.

* Jan. 14 -- Joshua L. Patterson, 23, Indianapolis, was arrested on a preliminary charge of theft and was being held without bond. Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy John Fowler was the arresting officer.

* Jan. 14 -- Paul E. Foster, 26, Jasonville, was arrested on a body attachment from Sullivan County and was being held without bond. Greene County Sheriff's Department Reserve Deputy Karen Oliphant was the arresting officer.

* Jan. 14 -- Jason J. Livingston, 26, Lyons, was arrested on a warrant and was being held without bond. Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jeremy Inman was the arresting officer.

* Jan. 14 -- Justin M. McDonald, 22, Jasonville, was arrested on a petition to revoke probation and was being held without bond. Greene County Sheriff's Department Special Deputy Porter was the arresting officer.

ACTIVITY LOG

The Linton Police Department's activity log for Monday included five information only requests, one lost and found, five medical/illness, one assist to another agency, two harassment complaints, one reckless driver, one theft-other, two 911 prank or false calls, one abandoned vehicle and two traffic stops.

* Jan. 13 -- John A. Penick, 36, Linton, was cited for obstruction of traffic following an incident on State Road 54 at the intersection of 11th St. NE at 1:04 a.m. According to the police report, Penick used his 2002 Chevy truck to block the roadway. Penick allegedly passed another vehicle then abruptly stopped in front of him blocking the roadway. Obstruction of traffic is a class A misdemeanor. The police report notes Penick was charged then released upon his signed promise to appear in court. LPD Cpl. Paul Clark was the investigating officer.
