Phyllis Sims, 62, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born October 30, 1945, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Helen (Purtlebaugh) Arthur.
She was a homemaker and had been employed as a cook at Indiana University and The Office Lounge.
She was a member of the West 11th Street Pentecostal Faith Assembly.
She is survived by her husband, Byron Sims, of Bloomington; three daughters, Kim Sims of Indianapolis, Amy Finley of Bloomfield and Beth Breeden of Bloomington; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kerry Sims of Bloomington and Scott and Brenda Gaston of Indianapolis; 3 brothers and two sisters-in-law, Melvin and Lois Arthur of Gosport, Denny Arthur of Bloomington and Larry and Karen Arthur of Bloomington, one sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and John Robertson; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Byron Kent Sims; one brother and one sister.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the West 11th St. Pentecostal Faith Assembly, with Rev. Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Indiana Organ Procurement Association.
