Charles Williams Thompson, Jr., 87, of Murray, KY passed away at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at Calloway County Hospital in Murray.
Born July 1, 1920 in Bloomfield to Walter Gobel Thompson and Ara Ellen Boswell Thompson.
he was a retired farmer and founder and owner of Ginger Creek Campground and Marina in Model, IN. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a 50-year Mason. He was a member of Martin's Chapel United Methodist Church and belonged to the American Legion for 63-years.
Survivors include: two daughters, Charlene Shipp of Brazil and Karen Hagerman of Dayton Beach Shores, FL; five sons, Charles William Thompson, Jr. of Vincennes, Paul Thompson of Chattanoga, TN, Walter Thompson of Cumberland Furance, Brent Thompson of Columbia; and Bradley Thompson of Clarksville, TN; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rose Thompson; an infant brother; and a grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home in Murray, KY wth Rev. Mike Cummings officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Cemetery.
