GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
Jan. 31 -- Two drivers were transported to Bloomington Hospital after a head-on collision at 5:01 p.m. on County Road 1390 East about a quarter mile south of C.R. 350 North. Joseph L. Byers, 43, Springville was headed west in the "S" curve on C.R. 1390 E. in a tan '93 Mercury Grand Marquis when he slid on a patch of ice on the north side of the curve. He attempted to steer the vehicle to the left but overcorrected and veered into the oncoming lane of traffic. Kathy J. Ward, 41, Solsberry was approaching, heading east through the curve in a blue '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the two vehicles collided head-on in the eastbound lane. byers complalined of nick and arm pain. GCSD Deputy Jeremy D. Cook was the investigating officer. Emergency 1 of the Greene County Ambulance Service assisted on the scene and transported both drivers.
Feb. 1 -- Icy road conditions caused an early morning accident on State Road 45 in eastern Greene County. At 5:48 a.m. Sharri L. Hutchens, 39, Bloomfield was driving a 2002 blue Chevrolet Traiblazer northbound on S.R. 45. Near the intersection with County Road 300 North, she lost control of the vehicle due to ice and traveled east off the roadway. Her vehicle flipped and came to rest on its roof. The Greene County Ambulance Service transported Hutchens Bloomington Hospital. The extent of her injuries was unknown at the time the police accident report was made. GCSD Deputy Chris McDonald was the investigating officer. Deputy Terry Wade assisted on the scene along with Greene County Ambulance personnel and the Center Township Fire Department.
Jan. 31 -- Christian N. Query, 23, Bloomfield, was arrested on a body attachment, released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 11. Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce was the arresting officer.
Jan. 31 -- Zackary D. Daughtery, 19, Linton, was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury. Bond was set at $8,000. Indiana State Police Trooper Byron Goodman was the arresting officer.

The Linton Police Department's activity log on Thursday included one incident of a person refusing to leave, one fraud, one request for information only, one school/foot patrol, one vehicle fire, one accident with personal injury, one accident with property damage, one hazardous materials disposal-wash down, one medical/illness, four animal complaints, one assist to another agency, one harassment complaint, one welfare check/concern, one fingerprint for a gun permit, one ordinance violation and four traffic stops.
Jan. 31 -- No injuries were reported after an accident involving two vehicles occurred at 8:36 p.m. on State Road 54 East at the intersection with County Road 1100 West in Stockton Township. Weather conditions included sleet and freezing rain but the primary cause of the accident was listed as failure to yield. Jennifer M. McKinnon 20, Linton, was attempting to pull out of the BP gas station parking lot and enter traffic on the highway, driving a 1996 Pontiac GrandAm, but not see an oncoming vehicle. She collided with Nathan T. Ball, 26, Linton, who was traveling westbound on S.R. 54 in a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup. Property damage was estimated at $2500-5000. LPD Patrolman Jayson Smith was the investigating officer. LPD Cpl. Chad Crynes assisted on the scene.
