Linton police make drug bust

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

After weeks of investigation, the Linton Police Department, assisted by K-9 Brody, executed a search warrant for a local residence Monday afternoon which resulted in the arrest of two people and the seizure of marijuana, guns and money.

Frankie Cox, Jr., 51, and Carolin J. Cox, 53, were booked into the Greene County Jail late Monday, both on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana in an amount over 30 grams and dealing in a controlled substance.

As of Tuesday morning, they were both being held without bond pending their initial appearance in court.

Linton police officers served the search warrant Monday afternoon at 4:53 p.m. at the Cox residence at 1740 A Street NE.

After officers made entry, they located a controlled substance as well as multiple amounts of marijuana, guns and money. The exact description and amount of items seized will not be released until the identification and weighing process is completed.

LPD Chief Troy Jerrell said a number of officers were involved in what turned out to be a lengthy investigation.

"This was a joint effort on the part of several officers from our department and several deputies from the Sheriff's Department who are members of the Greene County Drug Task Force. I also would like to recognize our K-9 Brody. Brody gave us some valuable assistance on this case," said Jerrell.
