John J. Exline, 90, of Linton, and formerly of Dugger, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Monday Feb. 4, 2008 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.
Born in Sullivan County on June 19, 1917, he was the son of Thomas Exline and May Buck Exline.
He was a retired coal miner from Minnehaha , a member of the Church of Christ in Linton, a 50- year member of the Eastern Star, and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge Post #721 in Dugger.
Survivors include: one son, Paul Exline and wife Myra of Evansville; three daughters, Ann Dean of Sullivan, Marilyn Bryan of Terre Haute, and Cathy Ballock and husband Steve of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Angie Carrillo and husband Mark, Trisha Bryan, Joni Goodman, Justin Goodman, and J. R. Exline and wife Courtnee; two great grandchildren, Haylee and Paige Exline.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Usrey Exline in 1995; four brothers, George, Sam, Kenneth, and Harold; and five sisters, Faye, Cora, Fern, Hazel, and Mary.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Newkirk's Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Carmichael officiating.
Burial in the Dugger Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
