Feb. 6 -- No injuries were reported after an accident involving one vehicle on Ash Road, west of Walnut Road, near Clifty Hills Addition. Jason T. Haywood, 25, Owensburg, was eastbound through a curve on Ash Road in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, attempting to light a cigarette which caused him to travel off the north side of the roadway. He was unable to navigate the vehicle back onto the roadway due to the soft, wet ground. The vehicle then struck an REMC utility pole breaking the pole in half and causing the vehicle to flip onto the passenger side. GCSD Deputy Terry L. Wade was the investigating officer. Others assisting on the scene included the Jackson Township Fire Department, Center Township Fire Department, Owensburg Auto and an REMC line crew.
Feb. 6 -- No injuries were reported after an accident at 7:43 p.m. involving two vehicles on State Road 45 North at the intersection with Shea Estates Drive. Richard Reynolds, 19, Bloomfield, was northbound on S.R. 45 in a 1991 Dodge Caravan and was attempting to make a left-hand turn into a gas station parking lot. Charles R. Wickline, 46, Springville was southbound on S.R. 45 in a 1989 Ford E150 van. As Reynolds began his turn, the vehicle in front of him stopped, causing him to stop with the rear end of his vehicle still in the intersection. Wickline applied his brakes in order to avoid hitting Reynolds but was unable to stop in time. The passenger side front fender of the Wickline vehicle collided into the passenger's side rear fender of the Reynolds vehicle causing damage to both. GCSD Deputy Jeremy D. Cook was the investigating officer.
Feb. 6 -- Jeremiah S. Apple, 30, Vincennes, was arrested on a warrant and was being held without bond.
Feb. 6 -- Gregory P. Norton, 45, Bloomington, was arrested on a body attachment. Bond was set at $500. Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Dured Townsend was the arresting officer.
