He was born May 3, 1931, in Greene County, the son of Lucien and Ruie (Perkins) Hamner.
He had worked at NWSC Crane and was a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his twin sister, Gloria Carpenter and her husband, Dale, of Linton; two nephews, Bill Carpenter and his wife, Diane, and Dan Carpenter and his wife, Teresa, all of Linton; three great-nephews, Steve Carpenter and his wife, Chantel, of Worthington, Mike Carpenter of Illinois, and Eric Carpenter and his wife, D'Lee, of Linton; two great-nieces, Brandy Kohlman and her husband, Clayton, of Linton; Danielle Feltner and her husband, Brett, of Worthington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Guy Porter Hamner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, Linton Chapel with Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and from noon Saturday until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Bykota Sunday School Class at the Linton First Baptist Church through the funeral home.
