Clarence O. Hamlin, 82, of Bloomfield, passed away 3:42 p.m. Friday , Feb. 29, 2008 at Veteran's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born June 14, 1925 in Greene County, he was the son of Chester D. and Ines (Hedge) Hamlin.
He was retired as a receipt control expediter for NWSC Crane. Later he drove a transportaion car for the Veteran's Affairs Officer. He was a member of the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield, was Bishop at the Pentecost Church of Zion in French Lick, and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church. He served in World War II in the United States Navy.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Laura Jane (Helms) Hamlin; one son, Robert D. Hamlin of Bloomfield; one daughter, Mildred Louise Michael of Bloomfield; one sister, Norma Jean Beavers of Bloomington; one brother, Carl Eugene Hamlin of Spencer; five grandchildren, Walter Dean Hamlin, Amanda Walker, Aaron Michael, Nathan Michael, and Elisabeth Michael; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, and Emily.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Evelyn Ross.
Funeral services will be conducted 1p.m. Tuesday at Word of Life Fellowship near Bloomfield with Brother Eugene Helms officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in rural Bloomfield where military services will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 196 Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one-hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
