She was born in Linton on Dec. 30, 1925, the daughter of Cornelius, Sr. and Elizabeth (Kuehn) O'Hern.
She was a 1943 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. She began her career with Indiana Bell July 12, 1943 and retired from AT & T in February, 1988. She was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Betty spent many years in Atlanta, GA, then several in Cincinnati, OH, moving to Indianapolis in 2007.
She is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Cook of Greenwood and Rose Summers and her husband, Jim, of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews, including Ron Miller of Linton and David Miller of Indianapolis; and several great-nieces and a great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Con O'Hern, Jr. & Bobby O'Hern, and two sisters, Jane Miller & Janet Allen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton with Father Hilary Vieck officiating. Following a dinner at the St. Peter Hall, entombment will take place at the Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute.
Visitation will be conducted from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 -9:45 a.m. on Wednesday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel.
