Marguriette Irene Schmidt, 100, of Indianapolis passed away at 6:05 a.m., Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at Hoosier Village Nursing Home in Indianapolis.
She was born Aug. 26, 1907, in Porter County, to Dallas Sarver and Catherine Henry Sarver.
Her husband, the Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt, whom she married Oct. 24, 1937, at St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette, preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1997. She graduated from high school in Westville in 1927, and graduated from Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago, with a degree as a registered nurse in 1931. She had post graduate training in nursing at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and in Geneva, N.Y.; before working at Doctor's Hospital in New York City. She was a member of Carmel Lutheran Church in Carmel.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Paul Schmidt and his wife Martha of Indianapolis, (Dr. Schmidt is a cardiologist serving Greene County General Hospital in Linton); a daughter, Dr. Phyllis Schmidt of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Heidi Schmidt of Indianapolis, and Loriann Clark and husband Scott; a grandson, Dr. C. Max Schmidt and wife Christine of Indianapolis; and seven great-grandchildren
.A celebration service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Carmel Lutheran Church, 4850 E. 131st St., in Carmel. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Sunday, in Decatur Cemetery, in Decatur.
There is no visitation.
