Born March 14, 1921 in Linton, he was the son of Enoch W. and Myrtle (Carter) Cole.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Springville and the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield. He retired from General Electric as an assembly line worker and was a farmer.
Surviving relatives include: his wife of 32 years, Doneva Gayle (Hudson) Cole; two sons, James M. Gardner and wife Kathy of Springville and Arnold H. Gardner and wife Jean of Blair, Oklahoma; three daughters, Melody A. Caswell and husband John of Springville, Cathy C. Hodges and fiance' Mike Thomas of Worthington, and Tammy M. Vest and husband Randy of Bloomfield; one brother, Harry Cole of Torrence, California; one sister, Lucille Carmichael and husband Warren of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren; 17 great, grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, George Cole, Clifford Cole, Lincoln Cole, and Paul Wayne Cole; and one sister, Martha Emery.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Pastor Bobby Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Carmichael Cemetery in rural Bloomfield where military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 196 Bloomfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one-hour prior to services Thursday.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Grace Baptist Church in Springville.
