Vivian Verneice Summerville, 87, of Bloomfield, passed away at 11:40 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at her residence.
Born April 23, 1920 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Jesse Brown and Emma (Hamilton) Padgett.
She worked at Pielemeier Restaurant in Bloomfield and Toodie's Cafe in Scotland, She also worked on the farm and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Scotland United Methodist Church, Scotland Ladies Aid and Scotland Historical Society.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Janet Merkel and husband Danny of Scotland, and Eva J. Willis and husband Danny of Scotland; five grandchildren Denise Merkel of Scotland, Russell Merkel and wife Danielle of Terre Haute, S. Janell Merkel of Bloomfield, Carrie Jean Dillon and husband Norman Lee of Petersburg, and Rosalie Vance & husband Zack of San Bernardino, California; three great-grandsons, Adam Merkel of Scotland, Collin Merkel of Whitestown, Logan Beau Dillon of Petersburg; two sisters, Floella Walters and husband Walter and Madge Haywood and husband Earl, all of Bloomfield; one brother, Jack Padgett and wife, Kathy of Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell Earl "Tussy" Summerville; two brothers Ventson Padgett and Alvan Padgett; two sisters Kathleen King and Oneita Alexander.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Scotland United Methodist Church in Scotland, Indiana with Rev Billy Ed Hostettler and Rev. Tom Lapham officiating. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and after 10 a.m. at the Church.
The family wishes all donations be made to Scotland United Methodist Church or Scotland Historical Society.
