Dessa L. Bartlett McVey, 92, of Whitehall, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 at her residence.
Born June 1, 1915 in Nashville, Ind., she was the daughter of Clayton and Inez (Crider) George.
She worked for 10 years at Bloomington Hospital both as a head breakfast cook and dietician. She also had worked in a cafeteria at Indiana University for three years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 446 Auxiliary and the Bloomington Hospital Auxiliary. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and SaraJean Bartlett, of Bloomington; seven daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary V. Pfaff, of Whitehall, Peggy Denbo, of Smith, Ala., Joan McCart, of Bedford, Suzy and Noel Robinson, of Bloomington, Billie Joyce and Timothy Freeman, of Spencer, Margaret Webb, of Bloomington and Sarah "Sally" and Paul DeMoss, of Solsberry; two step-sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael McVey, of Martinsville and Randy Lee and Brenda McVey, of Bedford; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Larry Clark, of Ellettsville; one half-brother, Harry George, of Nashville, and a total of 198 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and geat-great grandchildren, as well as three on the way.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lowell Keith Wilson; second husband, Roscoe Bartlett; third husband, Robert McVey, two sons, David E. Bartlett and John K. Wilson, two sisters, Bessie Smidley and Jessie Jackson, one - brother, James E. George, two half-brothers Harold George and Franklin George and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Bloomington with Bro. Randy VanDeventer, Bro. Tommy Shields, and Bro. Richard Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington.
Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
