Michael Scot Moore, 59, of Linton, passed away at 12:40 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008 at his residence after a fight against melanoma (skin cancer).

He was born Sept. 11, 1948, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the son of J. Vernon & Dorothea Mae (Falck) Moore.

Michael graduated from Penn Manor High School, received a Bachelor's degree from Oakland City College and a Master of Education degree from Indiana State University. The majority of his 37 year teaching career was at Linton-Stockton Junior-Senior High School. He was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, and Classroom Teachers Association, and served yearly on the bargaining committee in various capacities. Michael was a member of Civitan Club, and had held several offices, including president. He was on-site class coordinator for Vincennes University for several years, and adjunct professor for Ivy Tech State College and Indiana State University at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. He greatly enjoyed being Junior & Senior Class Sponsor at the high school for many years, and especially enjoyed working the stand at the football games and decorating for the proms, along with his class co-sponsor Barbara Herman. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his father, J. Vernon Moore and Dolly Moore, of Lancaster, PA; daughters, Dorothea (Moore) Keeling and her husband, David, of Veedersburg; and Sarah Moore of Indianapolis, his foster father, Earl M. Barley of Manheim, PA; his children's mother, Sonna Berghaier, of Linton; a granddaughter, Reagan Keeling; brothers, Thomas J. Moore & Stephen Moore, both of Lancaster, PA; step-sisters, Linda Wilson, Joy Kieffer, Susan Mowrer and Lisa Jockers, all of Pennsylvania; five nephews; two nieces; four great-nephews; and a special friend, Julie Sparks, of Worthington.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11 a.m. Thursday with Bob Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
