Flona Isabell (Everly) Query, 100, of Spencer passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008.
Born on Nov. 10, 1907, to Walter Scott Everly and Clara Dell (Clark) Everly.
She graduated from the one-room Splinter Ridge School, where she assisted the teacher by instructing her classmates on the subject of home economics. She baked her own wedding cake and, in her parents' home at noon Nov. 10, 1924, she married Clyde Algia Query. Twelve children -- nine sons and three daughters -- were born of their 43 year union.
She was a long-time member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church and the Vandalia Women's Club.
She is survived by eight children: Oran Everly Query, Leland Kent Query (Glenda), Donald Ray Query (Peggy), Virginia Mae Tucker, and Patricia Sue Newforth, all of Spencer, Frances Esther Woolard (Charles) of Vincennes, Clyde Junior Query (Rosemary) of Coal City, and Marvin Edward Query (June) of Bloomfield, and two sisters, Evelyn Wallace of Camby and Mabel Maners of Spencer' 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, four sons, Steven Richard, Paul Max, Jackie Eugene, and Walter William Query, three great-grandchildren, four brothers, John, Ephriam, Joseph and Woodrow Everly, four sisters Alice Straley, Marie Shrank, Ada Parks, and Emma Bonnewell Schuler, and seven half-brothers and sisters.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at the Vandalia Historic Chapel (former Vandalia United Methodist Church), followed by burial at the Macedonia Cemetery in Lafayette Township.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vandalia Historic Preservation Society, Glaucoma Research Foundation or the charity of one's own choice.
