Hansel R. "Red" Arnac, 78, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at his daughter's home in McClure, IL after losing his battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 29, 1929 in Linton, the son of Gabriel J. and Edna L. Anderson Arnac.

A longtime resident of Poplar Bluff, he was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in the KoreanConflict. After leaving the Army with an Honorable Discharge in 1956, he then was employed with Holiday Inns of America as an Innkeeper in several states until 1971. He the became co-owner of Log "N" Stone Restaurant and Lounge with his wife until retirement in 1983. He was a member of VFW Post No. 6477 in Poplar Bluff over 20 years and was of the Methodist faith.

On October 4, 1952, he married Velma Marie Zanetell in Pueblo, Colorado. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2003.

Survivors include: four daughters, Wanda Moore, Sandra Doyle, and Lou Hays all of Cape Girardeau, Mo. along with Karen Lugo of McClure, IL; three sons; Stan Arnac of Cape Girardeau, along with Gary and Dwayne Arnac of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Naomi Wasnidge of Jasonville, Sue Ledbetter and Sharon Pirtle of Albuquerque, NM; along with one brother, Jim Arnac of St. Charles, MO; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Katherine Beatrice Ford.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will also be at Ford & Sons Funeral Home on Mt. Auburn Rd. in Cape Girardeau from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday with funeral services following at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating.

He will be buried at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.
