Born in Jasonville on July 7, 1934, he was the son of Forest and Tidy Faye (Myers) Hardesty.
On December 23, 1961, he married Mae 'Rose' Tryon, who preceded him in death August 29, 1995.
He owned and operated Hardesty Drilling & Testing and was a previous owner of The Sportsman's Pub in Linton. He retired in 2000. Memberships include: PER of BPO Elks No. 866, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, Sullivan County Shrine Club, Sons of the America Legion of Jasonville, Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1434, and Jasonville Masonic Lodge No. 530 F & AM.
Survivors include: his longtime companion, Emily Earle of Linton; Emily's two sons, Jacob Earle (Heather Shanes) and Steven (Angela) Earle, both of Linton; four grandchildren; a cousin, Lois Spaulding of South Bend; and a great nephew, Scott McCammon of Oregon.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mae Rose Hardesty; a half brother, Ray McCammon; and a nephew, Larry McCammon.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with an Elks Memorial Service at 7p.m. Visitation will also be conducted after 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The funeral service will begin at 1p.m. Thursday with Mark Messmer officiating.
Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
