Mark Leo Reed, 59, of Sullivan, passed away at 2:24 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008, in St. Vincent Hospital at Carmel.
He was born May 29, 1948, in Vincennes, to Jack William Reed and Martha Rose Schultheis Reed.
He graduated from Vincennes University, Indiana State University, and Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence. He was the current Sullivan County Deputy Prosecutor and practiced law at Reed and Springer in Sullivan. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sullivan.
Survivors include: his father, Jack William Reed of Vincennes; his wife, Beth Cole Reed of Sullivan; a son, Charles Leo Reed of Sullivan; a daughter, Rachel Ranard and husband Matt of Dugger; two brothers, John Charles Reed and wife Mary Ann of Greer, S.C., Brian Reed and wife Heidi of South Lake, Texas; four sisters, Rose Marie Miller and husband John of New Braunfels, Texas, Jacqueline Balough of Greer, Rebecca Sullivan of Palo Alto, Calif., and Abigail Baker and husband Kurt of Plainfield; and two granddaughters, Molly Rose, and Sophia Ranard.He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Rose Reed; and a brother, Nicholas Martin Reed.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sullivan with Father Frank Renner officiating. Interment is in Mount Zion Cemetery, near New Lebanon.
A rosary will begin at 3:45 p.m. Monday. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Banks and Brust Funeral Home, 400 N. Court St., in Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Union Hospital Health Group Foundation, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
