Lady Miners struggling with errors
Unforced errors are still troublesome for the Linton-Stockton High School girls tennis team, who dropped a 3-2 decision to West Vigo at Linton City Park Wednesday.
The loss was the eighth in nine matches for the Lady Miners.
"Again we just had too many spots with too many unforced errors," said Linton-Stockton coach Brad McKinney. "We have to find a way to quit making those errors. We are beating ourselves. At times we are our own worst enemy.
"We have got to close people out when we get the chance. I felt like this was another one that got away from us."
Senior Lauren Karazsia earned a victory at No. 1 singles for the Lady Miners.
"Lauren played a great match," said McKinney. "I was really happy with the way she battled.
"She is still not completely healthy, but she fought through it. You have to give her a lot of credit."
Linton-Stockton's other win came at No. 1 doubles as Jessy Yuodzukinas and Ashley Sparks defeated the West Vigo duo of Amanda Phillips and Ginny Phillips 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-8.
"Jessy and Ashley played another three setter," said McKinney. "They were able to come back after losing a close second set."
The Lady Miner JV will face White River Valley in the opening round of the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The varsity will entertain South Knox Tuesday.
