Chester Leo "Chet" Alumbaugh, 87, Poway, Calif., and formerly of Sullivan, died April 27, 2008, in San Diego.
He was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Carlisle to Ora "O.J." and Elizabeth Eslinger Alumbaugh.
The 1938 Sullivan High School graduate and U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II was a retired retail manager for J.C. Penney. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann McElyea, Pacific Grove, Calif.; one son, David Alan Alumbaugh, Farmerville, La.; one grandson, Peyton McElyea, New York, N.Y.; and one sister, Helen (Chuck) Heath, Indianapolis and formerly of Linton.
Service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Stoneridge Country Club. Burial will be in Dearborn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or charity of choice.
