Olive JoAnn McElravy, 74, of East Greenwick, RI., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI.
She was born June 29, 1933 in Sandborn, the daughter of Alexander McElravy and Alta Marie Dyer McElravy.
She was a nurse instructor for 33 years at the University of Rhode Island where she retired in 1995 as professor emeritus. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in West Warwick. RI., a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society from which she was awarded the lifetime achievement award in 1992 and a member of Sigma Delta Tau.
Survivors include: cousins, Ruth Kemp, Marshall, Ill., Sue and Mark Guillemette, Marshall, Ill., Mary Alice and Tom Fink, Batavia, Ill., Joe and Leah Guillemette, Oswego, Ill., Catherine Fink, Batavia, Ill. and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, David McElravy.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel at West Union, Ill.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. at the Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn.
Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation or to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
