Joe Ledgerwood, 84, of Floyds Knobs, passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Thursday May 22, 2008 at his residence.
Born Dec. 20, 1923 in Bloomington, he was the son of John W. & Sarah Grace (Arnett) Ledgerwood.
He worked for Farm Bureau Insurance as a claims supervisor. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion, both in Solsberry. He was a member of the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree in Indianapolis. He was a 1941 graduate of Solsberry High School. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corp., and a Korean War veteran of the Air Force.
Surviving relatives include his wife Mary Nell (VanMeter) Ledgerwood of Floyds Knobs; son Mark Ledgerwood and his wife Helen of Floyds Knobs; daughter Marsha Wells and her husband Bruce of Stuart, Fla; five grandchildren Joel Wells, Jon Ledgerwood, Nathan Wells, Kari Ann Ledgerwood, and David Wells, and sister Rachelee Faughman of Madison, Conn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Stephen H. Ledgerwood, and brother John A. Ledgerwood.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. There will be a Masonic service at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloofield with the Rev. Glen Stidd officiating. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery.
There will be a military graveside service at the cemetery.
The family wishes all donations be made to Hospice or American Cancer Society.
