Vernon D. Mann, 86, of Clarksville, passed away May 29, 2008 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
Born Feb. 20, 1922 in Putnam County, he was the son of V.O. and Flossie (Branneman) Mann.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World World II. Prior to the war, he was was employed by International Truck Engine. After serving in the military, he worked for Hoosier Fence for 42 years where he was manager of the highway division. He served a past president of the Indiana Highway Constructions -- now Indiana Construction Association, was a life-time member of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association; was a 50-year member of the Noblesville Masonic Lodge No. 57, the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, the National Rifle Association, and Clarksville Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 20-years, Lena; a son, Rusten (Cindy) Mann of Noblesville; a daughter, Linda (Gene) Hawkins of Springville; a stepdaughter, Connie (Reggie) Morgan of Arlington, Tx; grandsons, Marten Mann, Matthew Mann and Nicholas Mann; and a great-grandson, Carter Mann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmothers, Trixie Mann; brothers, Gurnie and Dennis Mann; and his first wife, Leah (Higgins) Mann.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville with Pastor Steve Fair officiating. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Clarksville Christian Church or the Indiana Highway Construction Scholarship Fund.
