He was born in Sullivan County and moved from Linton to Boonville in 1966
A member of the Southside Baptist Church in Boonville, he retired from Amax Coal Co. Ayshire Mine. He worked for the Warrick County Disposal. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served as Combat Infantryman in Company K, 386th Infantry Regiment 97th Division. He was a member of the UMWA Local #1907.
Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Janice (Wilson) Wonders of Boonville; a son, Kenneth Wonders of Indianapolis; a daughter, Kim (Wonders) Dawson and her husband Bill of Campbellsburg, KY.; three grandchildren, Chelsea Galloway, Cole & Clay Wonders; two brothers, Tillman Wonders of Ft. Noches, TX. and Robert Wonders of Linton; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 10 a.m. CDT Tuesday Southside Baptist Church in Boonville, IN. with Rev. Doran Gregory officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. EST in Linton with military rites by The Linton American Legion Post #22.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. CDT Monday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Southside Baptist Church.
