Many missing faces at Memorial Day event

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Can't you watch with me for one hour? Matthew 26: 40 tells us that Jesus found His disciples asleep and asked Peter this question.

We visited Fairview on Memorial Day and took part in the Annual tribute to the Veterans who have passed on before. A contingent of Legionaires, along with caring civilians paid tribute with a twenty one gun salute and final salute to the sound of a bugle playing "Taps". It was a very moving event, a time when we go on a journey into the past and revisit with our comrades. It was most saddening to see how many people that weren't there. I noticed that your Pastor was not there. I didn't see the face of anyone that I do business with, nor did I see the Mayor.

I know, we had important things to do. I'll bet if you ask a Veteran, they will tell you that they had more important things to do, rather than go to a foreign land and offer their bodies as targets. Many of them never had the opportunity to get back to those most important things. So as the Scriptures say-Can't you watch with "Me" just one hour?

Thanks for listening.
