Michael W. Haddix, 69, of Vincennes and formerly of Worthington, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at his residence with his family.
He was born June 18, 1939 in Paris, IL the son of John O. and Elsie Terrell Haddix.
He was a graduate of Paris High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and he married Beverly Bultez on September 1, 1978. He and his wife own and operated the Old Thyme Diner in Vincennes and they formerly owned the Marathon Inn and Haddix Package Liquor Store in Worthington. He formerly served as president of the Worthington Town Council from 1988 to 1992. He was a member of the VFW Post 1157 and the 40 ET 8.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Haddix, their children, Christopher Haddix and his wife, Buffi, of Ocala, FL and Lori Haddix Miller and her husband, Nathaniel of Vincennes; grandchildren, Trenton Miller, Gabriel Miller, Emma Haddix and Lorelei Haddix. His brother, John O. Haddix and his wife Kay of Paris, IL; and his sisters, Joan Haddix Sullivan and her husband Phil of Paris, IL and Jackie Haddix Mullis of Paris, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Geraldine McCord and his brother in laws, Bill McCord and Jake Mullis.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home in Vincennes where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the celebration.
The family requests donations be made in his memory to Good Samaritan Hospice. Military Honors will be conducted by the All Weather Firing Squad.
