Joseph R. Beadle, 83, of Linton and formerly of Galesburg, Ill., died Tuesday morning, July 29, 2008 at Forest Creek Village Rehab Center in Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 8, 1924 in Greene County, the son of the Rev. Noah A. and Maggie (Norris) Beadle.
He married Hazel U. Oberle on May 22, 1950 in Pittsfield, Ill. She preceded him in death Nov. 22, 2007.
He is survived by a son, John F. Oberle (Sydney) of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Sandra K. Verplaetse (John) of Cambridge, Ill.; brothers, Carl Beadle (Lenora) of Dugger, Bill Beadle (Kay) of Rushville; sisters, Georgia (Beadle) Ansorge of Jasonville and Ruth (Beadle) Fauvergue (Robert) of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick "Rick" Oberle on Oct. 23, 1990; four brothers, Claude, Noah, Jr., James, and Max Beadle; and sisters, Eunice Brown and Ruby Fraser.
He was retired from Peabody Coal Company and an ordained minister. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg and served as the Illinois District Representative for Unchained Ministries, Inc.
He served in the military police from 1943-46 in the United States Army during World War II.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. on Friday at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg, Ill., with the Rev. Bob Malone officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
