Bloomfield Chamber appreciates support

To the Editor:

The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the following agencies, business and individuals for their assistance in the Chamber's Town Cleanup Day and the Fourth of July fireworks.

The town was gracious enough to open the sewage facility location so that the Chamber would have a place for the dumpsters used in the town wide cleanup. And for the Fourth of July they were kind enough to restrict travel around the park so that the fireworks could again be held.

Bloomfield School Board approved access to the high school baseball field for this year's fireworks display.

Thank you to:

1st Security Insurance, American Legion Post 196, Bloomfield Apple Festival Committee, Bloomfield Lions Club, Bloomfield Manufacturing (HiLift Jacks), Bloomfield Rotary, Bloomfield State Bank, Deltas, Farmers and Mechanics Federal, Hasler Oil Company, Main Source Bank, Bloomfield, Metal Technologies, Norm Sullivan Photography, Pioneer Seed, Red Oliphant, REMC, and Tri Kappa for their monetary donations.

To Doug Frye and those who helped set off the fireworks, Eric Alano for coordinating firefighters to cover the event. David Doane for providing emergency service and to all who help in large and small ways.

Again, thank you for helping make these events go so well this year.

Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce Board

A county manager would help us all

To the Editor:

Once again I read that the commissioners tabled an issue for which they had no decision. I wonder if we really understand how much time is needed to truly study the issues carefully before a decision can be made. These officials often do not have that amount of time.

For many years some county residents have attempted to encourage hiring a county manager who can research the many complicated details involved in the issues. On several occasions the commissioners approved hiring a county manager, but the council would not approve the position.

Studies show the county manager can save the county more than his or her salary.

It is my hope that this position will be in place one day. It is discouraging to see in the paper time and again that Greene County is the last or nearly the last to complete some action.
