Robert L. (Bob) Minks, 82, of Scotland, passed away 4:53 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Jan. 2, 1926 in Greene County, he was the son of Lee and Ruth (Ellett) Minks.

He retired from NWSC Crane in 1979 as a truck driver. He was also a self employed farmer and drove a school bus for the Bloomfield School District. He served in World War II with the United States Marine Corps. He attended Scotland United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield.

Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Brenda and husband Lou Massette of Scotland; one son, Mike and wife Cathy Minks of Scotland; two brothers, Ronald Eugene and wife Donna Minks of Martinsville and Jackie and wife Connie Minks of Bloomfield; his grandchildren, Lana and husband Scott Pinnick, Chris and wife Stephanie Blackmore, Ami and husband Andy Vachon, Josh Minks, and Meagan and husband Chad Hostetter; great, grandchildren, Justin Bennett, Britney Pinnick, Kayla Pinnick, Marissa Pinnick, Devin Blackmore, Kenley Blackmore, Mallorie Jones, Lane Hollingsworth, Clayton Vachon, and Grace Hostetter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jean (Bough) Minks on March 29, 1988; a brother, Dallas Minks; a grandson, Kenneth Blackmore; and great-grandson, Austin Bennett.

Services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler and Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Interment will be in Scotland Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 196 Bloomfield.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

The family has requested that all memorial contributions be made to the Scotland Historical Society or Scotland United Methodist Church in care of the Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home.
