He was born April 19, 1942 to Rex O. and Berenice D. (Kimm) Mayhew in Luzerne, IA. He moved to Jasonville in 1957, where he met and married Carolyn (Caroline) Miller on Nov. 29, 1964.
He was a retired deep coal miner and barber, and a member of the UMWA. He attended Howesville Church of God of Prophecy, Anchored in Faith Church in Vicksburg, and South Linton Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn; his daughter, Jamie M. Mayhew of Indianapolis; son and daughter in-law, Tony and Sheryl Mayhew of Evansville; sisters and brothers in-law, Joyce and Dan Turpen of Ellettsville and Mary and Alden Durfey of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother and sister in-law, James and Pat Mayhew of Indianola, IA; granddaughter, Savannah Reynolds of Paducah, KY; and step-grandsons, James Easton and Daniel Eaton of Evansville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be conducted at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville from 4 -- 8 p.m. Sunday
and 9 a.m. to noon Monday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Jasonville Church of God, 302 South Horace St., with Pastor Larry Goodman officiating.
Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery at Midland.
