Goldie M. Sims Wathen (Gunion), 96, of New Whiteland, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, 2008.
Born Sept. 17, 1911 in Switz City, she was the daughter of Henry Harrison and Sarah Irene (Johnson) Sims.
She was a 1931 graduate of Switz City High School. She was employed by Decatur Central High School as a baker for several years. She previously worked at Indianapolis Power and Light Company in the housekeeping and cafeteria for many years.
She was a member of the 50s Plus Club in New Whiteland and the Indianapolis Travel Club. She was a member of the Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church.
Survivors include: five daughters, Mary (Russell) Clark of Weslaco, TX, Ellen M. (William) Gale, New Whiteland, Margaret A. (Raymond) Calvin, New Whiteland, Teresa (Clarence) Ellis, Greenwood, Cynthia (Ronald) Meyer, Mooresville; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John J. Wathen, three brothers, two grandchildren, one great-grand child and three great-great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church with Rev. Ron Quinn officiating. Burial will be at Switz City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
