Minks family says thank you

To the Editor:

The family of Robert (Bob) Minks would like to thank all of our friends for the prayers, cards, flowers, food and support following his passing.

Thank you to Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, to the Revs. Billy Ed Hostettler and Arlen Pope for the message of hope they provided, and to Bloomfield American Legion Post 196 for their military presence at the funeral home and the gravesite.

We would also like to express our thanks and gratitude to the Scotland United Methodist Church for preparing a delicious meal for our family and friends following the service. Your generosity and kindness will never be forgotten.

Please enforce

city ordinance

To the Editor:

There was an article early this spring about a city ordinance in Linton concerning weeds and unkempt lawns. Isn't it a shame that it isn't enforced!

A member of the city council has been told that there are not enough employees to do this. After complaints from neighbors, that council member has taken on the job of cutting horse weeds so tall that drivers could not see around the corner of 3rd and D Sts. NW.

It seems that the enforcement of such ordinances would take precedence over less important tasks.

When is the council going to start enforcing ordinances that are already in place? There are many properties that have evidently been abandoned and, in some cases, the weeds are so high and thick that it would be difficult to gain entrance to the houses.

Information as to who owns these properties can be obtained at the courthouse. The weeds should be cut and the cost added to the tax bill for the properties if the owners will not maintain their property in accordance with city ordinances.

Such properties are sure to lessen the opinion of visitors to our city ... and might even be a factor in whether a business would be established here.

Sincerely interested in the future of Linton and Greene County,

Jamie Wright

Golf carts sold be allowed on city streets

To the Editor:

Yes, golf carts should be allowed on city streets!

The biggest, and only industry Linton has is retired people. They enjoy riding of an evening and visiting. Not only that, but they save lots of gas going to the store, post office, bank, and drive through food places. Thanks to Mayor Tom Jones, he has been lenient and most understanding.

Now, if you don't want your cart banned get off your duff and contact, State Rep. at h62@ingov
