He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Dugger, the son of Harvey and Opal Griffith.
He retired from Crane after working there for 34 years and did carpenter work on the side. He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Linton, a 1949 graduate of Dugger High School, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of American Legion Post #22 of Linton. He lived in Dugger until 1981 when he moved to Linton.
Survivors include his wife, Alice (Houchin) Griffith of Linton, to whom he was married Nov. 5, 1976; two sons, Mark Griffith of Linton and Donald Miller of Linton; five daughters, Rita (Eric) Hagen of Switz City, Jo (Ed) Hoffeditz of Linton, Coleen Padgett of Linton, Amy (John) McCombs of Lyons, and Tanya (Terry) Miller of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister, Ruth Hoffeditz of Missouri; two brothers, Alfred "Junior" Griffith of Dugger and Harold Griffith of Sebring, FL; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son; a grandson; four sisters; and two brothers.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Welch & Cornett Linton Chapel with Revs. Steve Talpas and Larry Corns officiating. Burial will follow at Dugger Cemetery. The Linton American Legion will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after noon Thursday at the funeral home.
