Geneva Maxine Roach, 85, of Kokomo, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at the Golden Living Center. She was born December 9, 1923 to Frank and Allene (Hord) Sherrow in a log cabin near Little Cincinnati in Greene County.

On April 16, 1944, she married John Junior Roach in Hopkinsville, KY.

She attended schools in Greene County and graduated from Bloomfield High School. She was employed at Indiana Bell and later AT&T for 35-1/2 years retiring in 1979. She started employment as an operator in Bloomfield and advanced to retire as a Customer Service Representative serving PBX switchboards in Central Indiana. She lived most of her adult life in Muncie and moved to Kokomo in 1992 upon the death of her husband, to be near her brothers. She belonged to Center Chapter #108, Order of the Eastern Star, the Red Hat Society, Telephone Pioneers, and Main Street United Methodist Church in Kokomo, where she was a member of the Madonna Circle and served in several volunteer capacities.

Survivors include her brother, Wayne and Ruth Sherrow; sister-in-law, Sonna Sherrow; granddaughters, Amy Hungerford of Phoenix, AZ, and Mike and Amber Luttman-Brown of Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Thor Hungerford of Phoenix and Shawn and Mattie Luttman of Colorado Springs; nieces, Cindy Dunlap, Brenda and Darrell Schwartz, Roni and Brian Chandler, Kelly and Ed Hunt; nephews, Greg and Lisa Sherrow and Kevin and Lisa Sherrow; several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Junior Roach; a son, Richard Len Roach; sister, Helen Virginia Sherrow; brothers, Donald Eugene Sherrow and Keith Leon Sherrow.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary in Kokomo with the Rev. Paul Rogers of Main Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Kokomo.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Center Chapter OES will have Eastern Star Services at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
