Class of 1988 says thanks for support

To the Editor:

The Linton-Stockton High School class of 1988 wishes to extend thanks to several groups and people for making our 20 year class reunion a success.

First, we wish to thank the Linton Elks Club 866 for allowing us to utilize their beautiful facility to have our reunion. Special thanks to Elks Club employees, JR and Lera Jarmon, Terry Mullis, and John Bedwell for providing exceptional service.

We also appreciate the excellent music we had for the evening. Justin Bedwell from Bedwell Productions was our DJ and did a fantastic job playing music that we all remember from our high school days. The band Shockwave also played for a few hours and consisted of two of our classmates, Steve Morin and Jeff Wilson, and other members Mike Morin and Bryan Figg. Another classmate, Monty Goodman even sat in for a few songs on drums. Stellar performance, gentlemen!

I think we all enjoyed it immensely! Thanks for volunteering to play.

Several classmates also helped make sure our reunion was a hit. Kudos to Mitzi Phegley Vaught, Brent Sparks, Chanin Van Horn Reed, Stacy Mahoney, Darron Whithycombe, and Greg Bohnert for their donated time, money and/or efforts in making the reunion possible.

Putting on this reunion together for the three of us has been a labor of love and sometimes a pain in the rear, but we continue to do it because of everyone in the class that supports it and enjoys it. We appreciate all the wonderful, positive comments we received on the night of the reunion and in the e-mails and blog posts on our class Web site. We try to put lots of thought into what we do for the good of everyone in the class. If it weren't for classmate support, there would be no reason to put this on. We are all three happy to do it for everyone in the class.

Shakamak staff, students say thanks

To the Editor:

The students and staff of Shakamak Elementary would like to thank the following people for their generous donations of school supplies and backpacks given to our students.

Without your continued support many of our children would have a hard time getting the supplies they need to succeed at school. We are very lucky to have a community that works together to meet the needs of our children.

Special thanks to: Patsy Hill, Sue Hubbell, The Dollar Store and the Jasonville Church of God. If you gave something and we've inadvertently left your name off this list please know whatever you gave was much appreciated.
