Elsie Nocus, 101, of Bicknell, passed away at 9:35 pm Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at the Glenburn Home in Linton.
She was born July 19, 1907 in Manchester, England the daughter of John and Ada Furniss Schofield.
She married Victor F. Nocus on Dec. 25, 1925 and they made their life together in Bicknell. She and her husband owned grocery stores in Bicknell and she retired from the IGA store having worked in the Meat Dept for several years. She was a member of Bicknell United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Nocus, and his wife Mae of Bloomfield and Jane Ann Small of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Beth Burcham, Jeff Small and Sherri Gates; great-grandchildren, Grant Burcham, Abby Burcham, Josh Gates and Crystal Thomas; and great-great grandchild, Caden Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Services will be celebrated Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell with Pastor Sharon Baker and Fred Nocus officiating. She will be buried at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and prior to the services on Saturday.
Memorial contributions can be given in her memory to the Bicknell United Methodist Church.
