The proper Bible

viewpoint of homosexuality

To the Editor:

Let me get this right. If you believe the Bible clearly condemns the homosexual lifestyle, you inherited that from Klu Klux Klan?

You suffer from a mental condition known as "homophobia?" You are racist? And if you speak out against it, it is an "act of hatred?"

That is the opinion of some from the extreme far left who continue to try to use their tried and tired liberal brain-washing tactics of lumping Bible-believing Christians with the KKK, the mentally ill and the racist.

But here are the facts. The Bible does condemn homosexuality as an "abomination" (Leviticus 18:22). Homosexuality brought divine judgment upon Sodom (Genesis 19). It is condemned in the New Testament as "vile affections," "error," "against nature," "unnatural" and committed by those who possess a "reprobate mind" (Romans 1:24-32).

If a preacher is going to preach all of the Bible, he must preach against homosexuality.

As a Christian, I do not hate homosexuals. I pray that they find Christ as their Savior so they can be delivered from their sinful lifestyle. If you want to see hatred, watch the liberal left -- who promote tolerance and acceptance of anyone "different" -- but spew wild accusations and wicked labels at those who do not agree with their liberal viewpoints.

Are the liberals unfair? Sure. But we must be patient with far-left liberal extremist. They cannot help it. They suffer from a mental condition -- "Biblephobia."

Thank you for helping Senior Citizens Center

To the Editor:

First, I want to give a great big thanks to the Lyons and Switz City Volunteer Fire Department members. We have a great fire department here in Lyons, and a great little town.

Next, I want to thank everyone who donates to our Senior Citizen Center. We appreciate all of the patronage for our breakfasts and bake sales each month, the volunteers who help each time, and all of the donations given for these. We especially want to thank the owner of Cinco de Mayo for their contributions and donations.

We don't want to forget our director Kathy England. We also want to thank Harold Long for all of the donations he continues to give us, along with his time. We are trying to add on to our existing Senior Center and will appreciate donations at any time.

Our next breakfast and bake sale will be Oct. 18 from 7 to 10 am. Donations are accepted. We will also be raffling off a homemade quilt, which will be drawn for on Oct. 18.

Thank you again.
