Jerry D. Mitchell, 66, of Jasonville, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2008 at his residence
Born Oct. 3, 1941 in Greene County, he was the son of Lystra D "Tubby" Mitchell and Hazel (Gambill) Mitchell
He retired from General Electric in 1996 and also worked at Wal-Mart in Linton until 2007. He attended New Covenant Ministries in Linton.
He was a U.S. Army and National Guard veteran and served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Regina K (Gambill) Mitchell of Jasonville, whom he married Nov. 6, 1976; son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. Chrissy L Mitchell of Jasonville and son, Jeremy D Mitchell of Jasonville; God daughters, Chelsi Elkins and Marsadie Lewis; grandchildren, Larissa L. Mitchell, Kady M. Mitchell, Clayton G. Dove and Katelyn L. Meadows; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Scott of Jasonville, Patsy and Jerry Hill of Jasonville, Shirley and Bill Sapp of Jasonville, Beverley and Dave Brashear of Linton, June and Bryan Shacklett of Linton, Sharon and Donnie West of McCordsville; brothers Robert Mitchell and Jim Mitchell both of Jasonville; brother and sister in law, Tom and Sheila Mitchell of Blackhawk; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diana and Wayne Johnson of Jasonville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Amanda Marie Mitchell.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Raney officiating.
Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in rural Dugger with military graveside rites.
Donations to help with expenses can be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
