* Oct. 13 -- Brian E. Carpenter, 36, Linton, was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery with injury and was being held on $1,000 bond. Linton Police Department Cpl. Chad Crynes was the arresting officer.



The Linton Police Department's activity log for Monday included one fraud investigation, one illegal burn, one assist to the utility department after hours and two other utility repairs, two medical/illness, one animal complaint, one suspicious vehicle or person, one assist to another agency, one harassment complaint, two thefts-other, one welfare check/concern and two traffic stops.

* Oct. 13 -- Police are investigating the theft of a Sony DCR-TRV27 Digital Handy-Cam camcorder from the Trinity Lutheran Church on Oct. 4-5. LPD Officer Karl Jacobshagen is the investigating officer.

* Oct. 13 -- Brian E. Carpenter, 36, Linton, was arrested around 11 p.m. on a preliminary charge of battery resulting in bodily injury. When police responded to a call for a welfare check on a child and arrived at a residence on SE A St., the child was not present but they found a female crying and upset. They observed red marks on her neck and she was complaining of pain. The police report states that the woman advised there had been an argument and Carpenter had grabbed her by the throat and thrown her to the ground. After interviews with both subjects, Carpenter was transported to the Greene County Jail where he is being held on $1,000 bond. LPD Cpl. Chad Crynes was the investigating officer. He was assisted on the scene by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Jeremy Inman.
